Bernheim Visitor Center – Reflections

Now that I’m in the middle of a Living Building Challenge project with the Edible Garden I have not been focused on past efforts. But today we had a staff meeting in the VC and I was looking around at this building and it’s really very beautiful. Sometimes when you are into the minutia of something you forget that the whole is really different that the sum of the parts. Looking up at this window section I was reminded about what happens when you stretch design decisions. Design work is hard mostly because there are always lots of right answers. Lots of wrong ones too. And in the moment it’s hard to sort them out. Especially when everyone has their own filter that they sift ideas through in coming up with what they deem to be “best way forward.”

The view from the west pavilion of the VC is green. Very green.
